In a significant development for Sydney’s commercial real estate sector, King Street Studios has launched its inaugural premium flexible workspace in the iconic ACA building at 66 King Street.
This move marks a new chapter for the art deco landmark, following the departure of WeWork in November 2023.
The building, which underwent a $60 million refurbishment in 2020, has seamlessly transitioned from WeWork’s abrupt exit to King Street Studios’ innovative co-working concept.
This transformation has provided a crucial lifeline to businesses previously occupying the WeWork space, allowing them to maintain their prime CBD location.
Spearheaded by building owner Phillip George, the King Street Studios project has retained several high-profile tenants, including Databricks, Miro, and Spriggy.
These companies have chosen to stay on, embracing the reincarnated workspace.
The revamped facility boasts an array of impressive features, including a spectacular new rooftop area.
Jacqui Pires, co-founder of Boutique Concepts, the workplace consultancy firm overseeing the transition, described the rooftop as “the hero”, offering covered and outdoor spaces with Wi-Fi, lush planting, and diverse seating options, all complemented by stunning city views.
King Street Studios sets itself apart with a range of premium amenities and services.
These include a dedicated on-site concierge, an on-call design service, IT support, and state-of-the-art meeting facilities.
The workspace spans 13 private and secure floors, each approximately 500 square metres, providing scalable solutions from dedicated desks to private suites accommodating teams of 5 to 65.
A key advantage of King Street Studios is its unique ownership structure. Unlike typical flexible workspaces, it is operated by the building owner, offering tenants enhanced security in their membership agreements and tenure.
Pires emphasised the workspace’s adaptability to modern work trends, stating: “At King Street Studios, we understand that work is no longer confined to traditional office spaces or rigid schedules.
“With our modern design, unique range of amenities, and flexible membership options, our workspace caters to the diverse requirements of a wide range of industries.”
Situated in a prime location among upscale retail and with easy access to various transport options, King Street Studios is poised to set a new benchmark for flexible workspaces in Sydney’s CBD.
