AUSTRALIA — A $300 million development project is set to breathe new life into a historic Sydney waterfront site, combining luxury living with a rich maritime heritage.
The Putney Wharf Residences, designed by acclaimed architecture firm SJB, will transform the iconic Halvorsen Boatshed into a premium lifestyle precinct.
Located 14 kilometres northwest of Sydney’s CBD, the development will feature 67 luxury apartments and townhouses, sophisticated waterfront dining, retail spaces, and a 36-berth marina.
The project boasts 300 metres of absolute waterfront, offering residents unparalleled harbour views.
The development comprises three distinct residential offerings:
- Halvorsen’s Apartments: A full restoration of the heritage-listed Halvorsen’s Boatshed, featuring 19 oversized apartments.
- Waterview Terraces: 18 three-storey, four-bedroom townhouses along Waterview Street.
- The Residences at Putney Wharf: Two new-build three-storey apartment buildings with 30 units.
SJB Director Adam Haddow emphasised the project’s commitment to preserving the site’s rich history while creating a vibrant community space.
The design incorporates original timber beams and other preserved materials, paying homage to the area’s boating legacy.
Heritage Consultant Natalie Vinton highlighted the site’s fascinating history, from its Indigenous roots with the Wallumedegal clan to its role in Australia’s early brewing industry and later as a crucial shipyard during World War II.
The residences will offer high-end finishes and amenities, including:
- Sculptural stone kitchen islands
- Mirrored backsplashes reflecting harbour views
- Large fireplaces with stone hearths
- Expansive walk-in robes
- Generous-sized baths and delicate feature stone double vanities
With development approval secured, construction is set to begin shortly, with project completion expected by 2027.
The apartments and townhouses will launch to market on Saturday, October 26, 2024.
This landmark project, developed in a joint venture between Abadeen Group and PERIFA, along with partners Phoenix Property Investors and Mitsubishi Estate Asia, promises to deliver an unparalleled living experience on Sydney’s waterfront, blending modern luxury with rich historical significance.
