Devlyn Australia, a Western Australian company, has been awarded a contract valued at over $700,000 to fit out the new Department of Transport (DoT) Centre in Busselton.
The contract was secured through a competitive tender process, marking a significant step forward for the project.
The Bunbury-based company is set to commence the fit-out in the coming weeks, with approximately 90 per cent of the contract value expected to be spent in the South West region.
This local investment underscores the project’s potential to stimulate the regional economy and create job opportunities.
The new DoT centre, to be located at Unit 1, 57 Cook Street, Busselton, will feature four sit-down counters, including a dedicated Practical Driving Assessment counter.
It will also offer expanded services previously unavailable in Busselton, such as computerised theory and hazard perception testing, National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) worker screening checks, jetty licence payments, and over-the-counter support for passenger transport operators.
Minister Assisting the Transport Minister, David Michael, emphasised the centre’s importance for the region, stating: “The new Busselton DoT Centre will be an asset to the South West and cater to the increasing population and demands for transport services in the region.”
He added that the centre is on track to open before the end of the year, providing a convenient one-stop-shop for local residents’ licensing and transport needs.
South West Region MLC Jackie Jarvis highlighted the project’s alignment with the WA government’s commitment to addressing the needs of the rapidly growing South West region.
She noted that engaging a company with a local presence not only improves service delivery but also brings economic benefits to the community.
The new Busselton DoT Centre represents a significant investment in the region’s infrastructure and is expected to greatly enhance access to essential transport services for the growing South West population.
